Pete Seeger and Ray Korona wrote "Toys for Peace" for our organization Bridges of Peace and sang it for us here at the Water Festival in NYC. After I had said that we started the project in Sayreville and then opened it up nationwide with a drive just being completed in Texas and that we are just mothers trying to make a difference. He smiled and told us that he thinks women are the ones who are gonna change this world because they are more compassionate...

Site News: Toy Drive in Alice, Texas (Sonny's Senior Project)
Mari writes "Alice, Texas--Our son, Sonny Perez, has pledged to dedicate his senior year to researching the benefits of Play Therapy for children of war, and to collecting and donating toys in honor of Cpl. Orlando Benavides, a class of 2004 graduate of Freer High School, who is currently ending his 2nd tour in Iraq at Camp Freedom, Iraq. This is his Senior Project for graduation as a Distinguished Graduate.
A toy drive has been scheduled for April 4 in Freer (Muy Grande Store) and on April 11 in Alice (Wal-Mart). All toys and items collected will be shipped to Iraq in Orlando's name for BridgePeace.org

SUBURBAN NEWSPAPER, March 05, 2009, SAYREVILLE — Jon Bon Jovi did more than entertain some of his biggest fans in his hometown last week. He helped a local charity, and in turn, children in wartorn Iraq.
Bon Jovi, along with his Backstage with JBJ fan club, sponsored a drive for the borough based Bridges of Peace organization and its "Help a Child Through a Soldier" drive at his private fan club concert at the Starland Ballroom Feb. 23...

Run a BOP "Help a Child Through a Soldier" Drive

SEND ITEMS TO THE IRAQI CHILDREN THROUGH OUR SOLDIERS! Sgt. Robert Bruce returned from Iraq and asks for your help!
- We invite volunteers to run drives within their homes, school or organization to collect items for the children whose lives are affected by war and poverty. Items are sent to our US military stationed oversees to be given to the children.
Sports equipment, soccer balls, clothes, new shoes, school supplies, stuffed toys, dolls, and art supplies.
The project's goal is to help a child in need and to bridge relations between the US soldiers and the local people. Help a Child through a Soldier!
This is a Humanitarian effort! We ask our USA families to help... BUILD BRIDGES OF PEACE
